Josh and his parents are gobsmacked when they find an adorable singing crocodile living in the attic of their New York City brownstone. But after getting to know the quirky creature, they quickly learn to love him. If only their grumpy neighbor felt the same. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which was released in theaters in October 2022, is now streaming on Netflix. The movie musical — starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Golden Globe nominee Constance Wu and Grammy-nominated singer Shawn Mendes as Lyle — was co-directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck (Office Christmas Party).

It’s streaming now.
The family-friendly film stars Bardem (Being the Ricardos) as Hector P. Valenti, Wu (Fresh Off the Boat) as Mrs. Primm, Mendes (Sing 2) as the voice of Lyle, Winslow Fegley (Fast Layne) as Josh, Scoot McNairy (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as Mr. Primm, Ego Nwodim (Saturday Night Live) as Carol and Brett Gelman (Stranger Things) as Mr. Grumps.
Hector, a failed magician, finds a singing crocodile called Lyle that he’s sure will lead him to success. Unfortunately, Lyle gets a massive case of stage fright that costs Hector his NYC brownstone — and his pet. So when the Primm family moves in, their son Josh (who’s in desperate need of a pal) is surprised to find that Lyle’s been living in their attic all alone. The two become fast friends, and Mr. and Mrs. Primm eventually warm up to Lyle too. But their downstairs neighbor, Mr. Grumps, is not having it — and he’ll do anything to boot the croc out of his home.
The musical comedy takes place in New York City.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is based on the best-selling children’s book by Bernard Waber.
