When a man goes to extremes to repay a dangerous loan shark, it sparks a chain of tragic events that connects a group of people in unexpected ways. What will it take to end the domino effect of everyone’s bad deeds? The slow-burn thriller series Karma, based on the webtoon of the same name, follows a ne’er-do-well whose fate becomes tied to ruthless criminals out for blood — and a few innocent people who get caught up in a web of questionable decisions. Starring Lee He-jun, Park Hae-soo, and Shin Min-a, the K-drama was directed by Lee Il-hyung (A Violent Prosecutor).

What happens in Karma?

A man referred to as the Debtor (Lee Hee-jun) is down on his luck — he’s striking out on his ill-informed investments and has been unable to make his rent for months. He also owes money to a loan shark who’s suddenly way, way more serious about getting paid back ASAP. So the Debtor hatches a scheme to get cash quick. But when the plan goes awry, it creates a ripple effect of violence for the Debtor and five unsuspecting people who may — or may not be — up to no good.
