In the shocking conclusion of Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2, the Sekai Taikai tournament abruptly unraveled into an all-out brawl between dojos that included students and sensei.

Kreese (Martin Kove) brought a knife to a fistfight, intending to kill Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), but amid the chaos, he lost the blade. Kwon (Brandon H. Lee) found it, but he fell on top of it and died.

The first eight minutes of Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 3, which you can watch above, offer a sneak peek at the fallout of this shocking tragedy, which also left the fate of the tournament hanging in the balance.

“We are now in the aftermath of everyone coming back home,” Josh Heald, who co-created the show with Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz, tells Tudum. “We wanted to explore everybody’s headspace — the people who had all their hopes and dreams tied up with success at the Sekai Taikai; the people who had more of an emotional reason to be there, like Daniel [Ralph Macchio]; the people who have everything riding on it for the wrong reasons, like Silver; and people like Johnny [William Zabka] who really felt like, ‘This is the thing I have to accomplish to move on with my life.’ ”

While Kwon is laid to rest in Korea, the members of Miyagi-Do try to adjust to life in the Valley after karate. Robby’s (Tanner Buchanan) college aspirations are looking dire, and Daniel is grumpily managing the LaRusso Auto dealership (even banning bonsai trees) while optimistic that Sam (Mary Mouser) will attend UCLA.

“For LaRusso, it was more about brushing it under the rug and focusing on the wonderful things he has in his life, since he can’t control what just happened,” Macchio tells Tudum. He’s “shedding karate from his life at the moment and focusing on his family, his daughter, his wife, the anniversary of the dealership. He’s deflecting from what’s really bothering him.”

As much as LaRusso might want to move on, it might not be that simple.

On the other side of the world, Silver interrupts Gunther Braun’s (Carsten Norgaard) massage to convince him to revive the tournament. Braun agrees, on one condition: All the sensei must be on board.

Meanwhile, in Korea, a vengeance-motivated Master Kim Sun-Yung (C. S. Lee) tells Kreese and Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) that they will bring Cobra Kai back to the tournament.  His blunt words are laced with sinister intentions: “They take one of ours, we take one of theirs.”

Buckle up for one last ride: Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 3, drops on Feb. 13.
