Nicolette: When I first read the script, I had no idea what this was, and I saw your name obviously attached to it, so I thought, “Oh, this is going to be cute.” [chuckles]

Anna: [chuckles] Sorry.

Nicolette: “And fun, and, like, joyful.”

Anna: A romp.

Nicolette: Yeah, a romp. And I just started reading it, and I just was really, I mean, I noticed after I was, I was holding my breath the entire time that I was reading it. You know, I was just so pulled, and I cared so deeply about these characters, and I was so worried for them. And I noticed I was holding my breath because every once in a while, it would have this really odd balance of quirkiness. And so, I would laugh or chuckle, and I’m like, “Oh, I forgot to breathe.” But I will never forget that when I finished reading the script, and it had the subtitles of what happened, and it said that it was a true story, I … I felt physically ill.

Anna: Yeah.

Nicolette: And sick to my stomach because I just didn’t know that it was based on a true story. I think when a — when a film gives me a visceral reaction, I … I’m like, “Oh, this is something I would love to be a part of, for sure.” 

Kathryn: I remember being so increasingly devastated in a way that felt so respectful to the women in this story. And I remember being really thrilled about that. I’ve been a fan of Anna’s forever. I just know how smart she is, and so, I was really excited that, you know, at the prospect of the story being in the hands of somebody I really knew would be able to tell it in a way that honored … 

Anna: I love you too.
