Mindy Kaling’s comedy series Running Point was a slam dunk for viewers this week, topping the English TV charts with 12.2 million views. The Kate Hudson-starring series about a Los Angeles family’s basketball dynasty, was also just renewed for a second season, and scored a spot in the Top 10 in 89 countries.

Fans sought out plenty of action and thrills this week, both in TV and movies. With an A-list cast led by Robert De Niro, the political-themed limited series Zero Day, about a devastating cyberattack, was a hit again this week, landing at No. 2 on the English TV list (7.5 million views). Plus, viewers took the airport thriller Carry-On to new heights — the film has officially reached No. 2 on the Most Popular English film list, with 171.5 million total views.

In the world of historical dramas, The Leopard, which follows an aristocratic Sicilian family during the unification of 1860s Italy, made a grand entrance on the non-English TV charts, debuting at No. 5 (3.4 million views). The series is based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s posthumously published 1958 novelIl Gattopardo.

Dramas were a hit this week on both the English and non-English TV charts. The limited series Toxic Town, based on one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals, took the No. 3 spot in English TV (4.7 million views); Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black took the No. 6 spot (3.8 million views) following the arrival of Part 2; and the Colombian series Medusa debuted at No. 1 in non-English TV, with 6.8 million views.

Plankton: The Movie, the latest film in the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise produced by Nickelodeon Animation, made a splash on the English films list this week, debuting at No. 1 (14.3 million views). CHAOS: The Manson Murders, from Oscar-winning director Errol Morris, also arrived on the English films list at No. 3 (5 million views), and fans of the high-octane world of racing didn’t waste any time tuning into Season 7 of the documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive (No. 9 in English TV, 2.6 million views). Plus, viewers were excited to spend time with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex — her new series, With Love, Meghan, debuted at No. 10 on the English TV charts (2.6 million views) and has been renewed for Season 2.

Over in non-English films, Mexico’s action thriller Counterattack came out on top, and was a worldwide success with 22 million views in its second week. The French mystery thriller Squad 36 came in at No. 2 (11 million views) and was followed by the Japanese action thriller Demon City, (No. 3, 10.3 million views). Thrillers found their way to the top of the non-English TV list as well, with Harlan Coben’s Poland-set limited series Just One Look taking the No. 2 spot (4.5 million views) and German psychological thriller Cassandra landing at No. 3 (3.7 million views).
