Team X or Team O? Right or left? Red light or green light? The players of Squid Game have a lot of life-or-death choices to make — and not much time to decide. The brutal competition is set to come to a close on June 27, when the series’ third and final season premieres. The latest trailer gives us a peek into the bloody battle ahead for Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), his friends, and his enemies (including the enigmatic Front Man), as they race toward the last round of Squid Game

Prepare to see familiar foes, new games, and higher stakes than ever in Squid Game Season 3

“The new season will focus on what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail,” series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk tells Tudum. The upcoming episodes pick up directly after the Season 2 finale, which saw Gi-hun lead a rebellion against the puppet masters of Squid Game. Tragically, his coup failed and many of his allies died in the process. The trailer — which was unveiled during Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event — hints at the “remorse and guilt” bubbling inside Gi-hun in Season 3.

“He is in utter despair after losing everything and watching all his efforts go in vain,” Hwang explains. “The story then takes an interesting turn, questioning whether Gi-hun can overcome his shame and rise again to prove that values of humanity — like conscience and kindness — can exist in the arena.”

Many ominous obstacles lie ahead for Gi-hun on his quest. Of course, there are the heavily armed pink guards, and bloodthirsty players he must contend with. But the contest will also throw death-defying new games at Gi-hun and the rest of his competitors. The trailer confirms Young-hee — the terrifying doll whose all-seeing eyes lord over Red Light, Green Light — will return for an all-new round of play. You certainly won’t want to fall for her tricks this time around. Fans will also get a first glimpse at a chilling new game where danger lurks around every corner.

As Lee Byung-hun, who portrays Front Man, promises, viewers “won’t be disappointed” by the surprises hiding in Squid Game’s final episodes. “In Season 2, dramatic narratives centered on various characters, setting the stage for Season 3, when these stories reach their climax, and culminate in an explosion of dramatic intensity,” he says.

And Gi-hun is in for a shock of his own. In Season 2, Gi-hun had no idea his new friend In-ho is the same person as the ruthless Front Man. The Season 3 trailer reveals Gi-hun might be one step closer to learning the truth. In the clip, we see a suited-up Gi-hun walking through Front Man’s chambers. Separately, we see Front Man remove his mask and, in voice-over, ask, “Player 456, do you still have faith in people?”

What will Gi-hun’s answer be? And, are we really heading toward a face-to-face showdown between Gi-hun and Front Man? You’ll have to find out by tuning into Squid Game Season 3 when it debuts on Netflix on June 27. Until then, keep coming back to Tudum to stay in the game (and in the know).
