The sun is rising on massive deals and intense drama for The Oppenheim Group agents. Selling Sunset is back for Season 9, and with new episodes come new faces.
This season, the pressure is at an all-time high, and some agents might not have what it takes to keep their seats at the brokerage. “Season 9 definitely brings some unexpected twists,” new agent Sandra Vergara tells Tudum. “There are some jaw-dropping moments you won’t see coming.”
Creator Adam DiVello says that after a particularly explosive batch of episodes featuring social media drama, clashes among the cast, and — lest we forget — a dog funeral, filming for Season 9 picks up right where Season 8 left off. “There was a lot of strife in the office and a lot of hurt feelings,” DiVello says, “so we pick up and try to get past that as quickly as possible and into new stories.”

Chrishell Stause, Chelsea Lazkani, Emma Hernan, Nicole Young, Alanna Gold, Mary Bonnet, Amanza Smith, and Bre Tiesi are back at The O Group watercooler this season despite the personal and professional fractures within the team. As always, Jason and Brett Oppenheim, the brokers behind the agency, preside over the agents, as ringing that bell becomes increasingly challenging in the ever-changing luxury real estate market.

In Season 9, Sandra Vergara joins The O Group, vying for the most exclusive listings. “The O Group felt like the perfect fit,” Vergara says about her decision to join the team: “sharp, high energy, and full of people who are at the top of their game.”
Vergara hadn’t seen Selling Sunset before, initially opting for a “fresh” perspective on her new coworkers. “I went in blind on purpose,” she says. “I always thought the women were incredibly dynamic. But being on the inside now, it’s a whole different level of excitement.” The newbie joined mid-season after securing her realtor license and quickly realized the group had years of “drama brewing” that was “too complicated” not to have background on. “There was an elephant in the room, but nobody spoke about the elephant.” (That elephant may or may not have something to do with Nicole Young and Chrishell Strause.)
Competition in luxury real estate can be intense, and rookie agents aren’t always welcomed with open arms. “I believe confidence is everything,” Vergara says. “I think that's what Jason saw when he hired me.”
In addition to her experience pushing luxury properties, Vergara has also made a mark in entertainment journalism and on television. The Colombian native has called Southern California home for some time and recently served as the Los Angeles correspondent for People (The TV Show!). Plus, Vergara’s no stranger to working with high-profile celebrities. Her credits also include appearances in CSI, The Bold and the Beautiful, Nip/Tuck, and a featured role alongside Colin Farrell in the 2011 horror film Friday Night.
Oh, and if that last name rings a bell: Yes, she’s the cousin and adoptive sister of fellow actor Sofía Vergara (Griselda). “My family has always told me that I would be amazing at real estate,” she says. “I’ve always had an eye for design and a love for people, so combining that in real estate just clicked.”
