When last we saw Idris Elba’s Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, he was headed to an unlikely destination: prison. At the end of Season 5 of Luther, BBC’s crime thriller, the grizzled copper was finally clapped in irons for his years of untraditional and occasionally illegal crime solving. But as the new feature film sequel Luther: The Fallen Sun reveals, he left some unfinished business in the outside world — an unsolved murder, and a killer who’s still on the loose. When that monster strikes again, Luther will have to get out of prison and go back on the case. Along the way, he’ll run into a cast of characters both old and new. Here’s your briefing on Luther: The Fallen Sun’s crew of cops and criminals, before the new film hits Netflix on March 10.
