Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) has returned for another adventure. And several familiar faces are joining her on her trip abroad in Enola Holmes 3.
At the start of the new film, which is now streaming on Netflix, the detective is about to marry her longtime love interest, Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), in Malta. But before she can walk down the aisle at their Mediterranean ceremony, Enola is pulled into her most personal case yet when her brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) is kidnapped.
According to Brown, Enola Holmes 3 is all about giving fans more of what they want, which means jumping back into the thrilling lives of the films’ beloved characters. “Enola still has so many stories to tell, and I’m never done telling stories,” the Stranger Things actor says. “I was on a TV show for 10 years — revisiting characters feels very second nature to me and is always exciting. I don’t shy away from that at all.”
Keep reading to be re-introduced to the sleuths, revolutionaries, and outlaws who are back for the latest installment of the franchise. Plus, meet the new additions who help Enola piece together clues and uncover some hard truths.

After years of cracking big cases, this plucky young detective has honed her skills and finally proven herself worthy of the legendary Holmes name. “Enola is fierce, adventurous, and flawed –– deeply flawed,” says Brown. “I think she’s a great role model for young people, and a reminder that there’s so much more that they’re capable of.”
Now, though, Enola is at a crossroads. Set to marry Lord Tewkesbury, who she’s fallen in love with over the course of the first two films, she worries about the prospect of becoming a lady and losing her identity as a Holmes. As she reluctantly prepares to take this next big step, Enola is swept into a new mystery involving her brother Sherlock.

Since meeting Enola in the franchise’s first film, Tewkesbury has made a name for himself as a progressive member of the House of Lords. “You see Tewkesbury gain a bit of responsibility and try to make his mark on the world,” Partridge says about his character’s Enola Holmes 3 arc.“He’s making big decisions and he realizes that he wants to settle down with Enola.”
At the start of the latest film, Tewkesbury and Enola are set to tie the knot in Malta, a place that holds significance for the Tewkesbury family. When the wedding plans don’t pan out due to Sherlock’s shocking disappearance, the young lord offers to help his fiancée in solving the mystery.

With his sister on the precipice of marriage, Sherlock struggles to accept her choice to give up her independence. “I’ve certainly enjoyed the emotional connection that Sherlock has with Enola,” Cavill says. “There’s something unique about that, which we don’t see in other representations of Sherlock.”
Despite his reservations, Sherlock travels to Malta for the wedding — and to work a mysterious case, the details of which he won’t reveal to Enola. The morning of the nuptials, however, Sherlock goes missing, sending his sister on a mission to find him.

The mother of both Enola and Sherlock, Eudoria is hard to pin down — in large part because she’s a futigive. But the radical has managed to instill a lot of important lessons in her kids, and always seems to return when they need her most.
“She’s everything that I’d want to be, raising her child with all these different and useful disciplines — self-defense, historical perspective, painting, flowers, and observation,” Bonham Carter says. “I’ve always wanted to learn how to see the world with a Holmesian view, to have the ability to observe, watch, and deduce. It’s fun playing someone terribly clever.”

Introduced in a post-credit sequence at the end of Enola Holmes 2, Dr. Watson returns in the third film as Sherlock’s esteemed colleague and London flatmate at 221B Baker Street. As Enola heads to the cathedral in Malta for her wedding, it’s Watson who alerts her to the news that Sherlock is gone, and together, the two set to work.
“The great thing about these films — and this story particularly — is that it throws you into the deep end quickly, so it’s very exciting and thrilling,” says Patel. “Right from the beginning, Watson is by Enola’s side trying to figure out what’s going on and helping her solve the mystery.”

Previously known as Mira Troy, Moriarty is back as the antagonist in Enola Holmes 3. After escaping prison, assuming another fake name — Professor Adeline Rathe — and traveling to Malta, she kidnaps Sherlock, sending Enola on a wild goose chase.
According to Duncan-Brewster, Moriarty is dedicated to becoming an “absolute nuisance to the Holmes family,” which she says is great fun. But her wicked game may not only be about getting revenge on the Holmes family. “We also get to see the passionate side of her — what she believes is just and right — and the political aspects of the world that she inhabits,” the actor adds.
