Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson are infinitely charming and adorable in Voicemails for Isabelle. But these exclusive bloopers prove that they’re just as dynamic out of character as they are when they’re playing Jill and Wes in the rom-com. And they’re not the only ones: the rest of the Voicemails for Isabelle cast, which includes Lukas Gage and Nick Offerman, can’t keep a straight face behind the scenes. “If this were middle school,” says writer-director Leah McKendrick, “Lukas and Zoey would have to be separated. They make each other laugh uncontrollably.”
From Robinson’s Twilight reference to Gage’s grief-inspired drinking games, the cast embodies Voicemails for Isabelle’s specific balance of dark humor and culturally specific world-building. Watch Deutch receive the news that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged, the documenting of which is only fitting considering how many Swift needle drops and references there are in the film.
