[man 1] It's an incredible thing to see just how innocent pangolins are.

[wings flapping]

[moving music playing]

[man 2] It's an ancient creature that runs the risk of extinction.

[water gurgling]

[man 2] And we're trying to save a species.

[tongue slithering]

[man 1] If a pangolin is too small, it won't survive. The stakes are very high.

[footsteps thudding]

[uplifting music playing]

[man 1] I've still never seen a pangolin in the wild, only ones that we've rescued from the illegal wildlife trade.

[indistinct chattering] And that was how I met Kulu.

[woman] Welcome to your new home.

[man 2] Between the hospital and the release process, we were losing pangolins. There needs to be a place where you can become a wild pangolin again.

[man 1] There's definitely a fear of failure. I've never had to nurture something so vulnerable in my life before. There's only so much pressure I can put on him to eat. It's taken Kulu a long time to feel secure in the environment.

[man 2] Every pangolin is going to face his dangers, but at some stage, Kulu needs to be wild.

[animals screeching]

[man 1] He's freaking out. I got you. I got you, my buddy. Before pangolin rehabilitation, I was sort of in that stage of my life where I wanted something more meaningful. It's far easier to be vulnerable around a pangolin. Just the sense of freedom that I can give him out here. He changed the way I saw the world.

[uplifting music continues]

[man 1] Hey, are you craving me? 

I really just wanted to do the best job possible. 

Are you all right? It's me, my buddy. It's me. 

But there's got to be a point where you let go.
