    Back in Action and The Night Agent Lead an Action-Packed Top 10

    Plus Ad Vitam, Squid Game, and a resurgent The Recruit.

Spies were on the rise this week, with The Night Agent debuting at No. 1 on the Top 10 English-language TV list (13.9 million views). Season 2 of the Gabriel Basso-starring action series hit the Top 10 in 90 countries, with audiences also continuing to catch up on Season 1 (No. 4, 4.9 million views). 

Peter Sutherland wasn’t the only secret agent racking up views: Matt and Emily Reynolds (Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz) of Back in Action continued their reign on the English-language film list, hitting No. 1 (46.8 million views) for the second week in a row, and Franck (Guillaume Canet) landed with France’s Ad Vitam at No. 1 on the non-English language films list (8.4 million views) for a third week. Audiences also caught up with Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo) and The Recruit Season 1 (No. 10 on the English TV list, 1.7 million views) before Season 2 launches on Jan. 30.

The action didn’t stop there, though: TSA agent Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton) and Carry-On continued to hang on at No. 9 on the English films list (2.7 million views). And Diaz bookended the list, with her 2010 action comedy Knight and Day, co-starring Tom Cruise, appearing in the Top 10 for a second week (No. 10, 2.6 million views). 

And the Korea-set XO, Kitty got in on a different kind of action this week. Season 2 snapped up No. 2 on the English TV list with 9.2 million views — while Season 1 is also feeling the love at No. 5 with 3.8 million views — and the original 2018 film that introduced us to Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, reappeared at No. 6 on the English films list (3.1 million views). 

Meanwhile, historical drama American Primeval hit No. 3 on the English-language TV list, with 6.7 million views. Squid Game Season 2 remained a winner, landing at No. 1 on the non-English language TV list for the fifth week in a row (7.9 million views), with Season 1 also claiming the No. 6 spot (3.1 million views). Anime series SAKAMOTO DAYS stuck around at No. 2 on the non-English TV list with 5.7 million views, and the K-drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call debuted at No. 3 with 4.7 million views. 

Desert island drama The Sand Castle arrived at No. 2 on the non-English film list, with 4.8 million views. And animated films from Illumination also made a strong showing on this week’s English films list, with The Secret Life of Pets (No. 3, 4.3 million views), The Secret Life of Pets 2 (No. 2, 6.7 million views), Despicable Me 2 (No. 8, 2.8 million views), and Minions: The Rise of Gru (No. 7, 2.9 million views) all popping up.
