It’s true, Pogues. The fifth and final season of fan-favorite drama Outer Banks is slated to premiere on Netflix Aug. 20. Check out the teaser trailer and new photos of the Pogues here now.
“We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues,” creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke previously told Tudum. “Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can't wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it’s going to be a wild ride…”
Across its four seasons, Outer Banks has received nearly 200 million views and has been featured on the Top 10 English TV List 25 times.
The Season 4 finale, which is the first feature-length episode of the show, “sets the stage for an epic fifth and final season,” Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Burke previously told Tudum.
Here’s everything we know about Outer Banks Season 5:

Season 5 finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ (Rudy Pankow) in Morocco. Stranded far from home and mourning the heart of their crew, they’ve lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a gauntlet of familiar threats.
Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) is still at large, Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the Corsairs are closing in, and the Kooks are trying to ensure the Pogues have no home to return to. So John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) must rely on their scrappy instincts — and an uneasy alliance with Rafe (Drew Starkey) — to keep from falling apart for good.
The Pogues are in a desperate race to reclaim their future and finally win the freedom they’ve always been chasing. It’s the Pogues against the world as they seek to avenge their best friend and bring it on home … one final time.
Returning series regulars include Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, and Fiona Palomo. Tony Crane and Cullen Moss will also return for Season 5 and have been upped to series regulars.

You sure can. The scrappy Pogues aren’t letting Groff go without a fight. As they say in the teaser trailer, “If you’re on the bottom, you have to risk everything.” Go on one last ride in Season 5 with the Pogues by heading here to watch the teaser trailer, now.

You bet. Just because they lost the Blue Crown doesn’t mean the Pogues are giving up on their sense of adventure. Check out the gang diving into new chaos in the photos above.
We’re so glad you asked because you certainly can! Outer Banks fans can now bring the sound of the Pogues home with a brand-new vinyl soundtrack collection from Seasons 1– 4. Dropping just as summer fades and leaving fans chasing the sun-drenched nostalgia of the OBX, the vinyl collection is now available for pre-order here.
The 25-track vinyl soundtrack collection is produced by award-winning composer and producer Fill Eisler and features Sides A through D — capturing the ultimate sounds of summer, and including fan-favorite scores like the “Outer Banks Main Theme,” “Pogue's Theme,” “Endless Summer,” “Pogue’s Sunset,” and many more.
The OBX creators discussed the series’ final season in a letter to fans back in Nov. 2024, reflecting on what working on the series for the past seven years has meant to them. It all started when they came across a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage.
“That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time,” the creators say in the letter. “From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship.” From there, P4L was born.
Season 4’s main treasure hunt for the Blue Crown “should carry us through all the way to the end,” says Burke.
The creators have also had the final frame of Outer Banks in their minds for a while. As they told Tudum last season, “We’ve always known from the beginning what the last scene would be,” said Josh Pate.
