Bless her heart! Leanne Morgan’s comedy series Leanne will return for a second season on Aug. 27.
“We’re coming back for a second season!” says Morgan. “I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!”
Adds Chuck Lorre, co-creator and executive producer: “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity,” he says. “Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”
Leanne Season 1 cast members Morgan, Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Jayma Mays, Tim Daly, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, and Andrea Anders will return for the second season. New additions joining the cast include Lainey Wilson, Jaime Pressly, Billy Gardell, and Tyne Daly.
Inspired by her stand-up, the 16-episode multi-camera comedy series premiered July 31, debuting in Netflix’s Global Top 10. The sitcom follows Leanne (Morgan) as her world is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years unexpectedly leaves her for another woman. Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter, and hope in the most unexpected places. This heartfelt comedy proves that it’s never too late to rewrite your story.
The series is co-created and executive produced by Susan McMartin, Chuck Lorre, and Leanne Morgan. Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel also serve as executive producers. Leanne comes from Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Since the start of 2023, Morgan’s I’m Every Woman has been Netflix’s most-viewed stand-up special from a female comedian globally.
