The race is on: A brand-new series — set in the competitive world of high school rowing — will be making a splash this fall. From showrunner Vivian Lin, Crew Girl tells the story of Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau), a gifted 16-year-old single sculler whose promising future is derailed by a family scandal.
Forced to relocate to the East Coast with her mom (Jessica Paré), Teagan hopes to have a fresh start at the prestigious Easton Prep. But once there, she finds that she’s not just the outcast newcomer — she’s stuck on land. There’s no girls’ rowing team at Easton. Her only way onto the water? Taking the helm as coxswain for Easton’s notoriously chaotic boys’ varsity crew.
Thrown into a world of old money and ruthless competition, Teagan has to convince an entire team to trust her leadership — and each other. As she fights to reclaim her rowing dreams, manage the chaos of the crew, and navigate her family’s growing troubles, Teagan finds herself drawn into a rivalry of her own. She winds up caught between the arrogant team captain, Josh Regis (Sam Braun), and Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark), a quiet but fiercely determined local who refuses to be underestimated.
Keep reading for more details on this exciting new sports romance, including some behind-the-scenes photos that will take you inside the posh world of Easton Prep. You’ll spot Martineau and the rest of the charming cast in the brand new pics.
The eight-episode series hits Netflix on Sept. 10.
From showrunner and executive producer Vivian Lin, the series is also executive produced by Jeff Norton, Lindsay Macadam, Hillary Zwick Turner, Tony Chung, and Lori Massini.
